Flutes without Borders

Flutes without Borders features three of South Africa's most esteemed flautists: Professor Cobus du Toit, currently on sabbatical from the University of Massachusetts Amherst; SAMA Award-winning Khanyisile Mthethwa;  Renée Neuhoff. The programme blends tradition and innovation, showcasing the flute in its many voices—from lyrical duets to fiery tangos and virtuosic trios. The programme spans continents and styles and features:

  • Samuel Zyman – Fantasia Mexicana
  • Gary Schocker – Three Dances for Two Flutes and Piano
  • Franz Doppler – Valse di Bravura, Op. 33
  • Nicole Chamberlain – Chatter
  • Astor Piazzolla (arr. McLearnon) – Oblivion & Libertango for alto flute, flute & piano
  • Ian Clarke – Curves for three flutes and piano
