Christian-Peter Hiemstra - Piano Recital

Christian-Peter Hiemstra is one of the most exciting and creative emerging pianists on the global stage today. Admitted to the London Royal College of Music at the age of 9, he played his first recital at the age of 10 and made his debut with orchestra at the age of 12 with Edvard Grieg’s epic A minor piano concerto. Now, at only 14 years of age, he is already laureate of numerous National and International solo piano and ensemble competitions and has performed in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and South Africa.

Bringing a rare combination of creativity, musical sensitivity and technical ability, his playing has been lauded for its “personality and daring qualities” (Alim Beisembayev), “considered, thoughtful and musical approach” (Paul Ryan), “deep connection to music and rare and individual artistic flair” (Prach Boondiskulchok) and has led renowned Italian pianist Pasquale Iannone to describe him as “a young Andras Schiff”.

Currently continuing musical studies under Chiara Opalio and Claudio Martinez Mehner at the FHNW Hochschüle für Musik, Switzerland, Hiemstra continues to draw praise and recognition for his exceptional performances.

The programme for this recital features:

  • Beethoven Sonata No. 21. Op. 53 “Waldstein”
  • Schumann Fantasiestucke Op. 12
  • Bartok Suite Op. 14
  • Liszt Années de Pélerinage, VI. Vallée d’Obermann
