Charl Du Plessis Trio in Concert

On Sunday, December 15th, at 3 PM we welcome to Northwards House the celebrated Charl du Plessis Trio, featuring Charl du Plessis (piano), Werner Spies (bass), and Peter Auret (drums), in a performance that will bring our 2024 season to a spirited close.

Back by popular demand, the Charl du Plessis Trio performs Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with their unique blend of virtuosity and groovy jazz rhythms to dazzle any connoisseur of classical music. Werner Spies provides the ultimate walking bass and Peter Auret’s smooth beats will transform this most-loved music from the Baroque period. Come experience the finest arrangements by Steinway Artist Charl du Plessis in an afternoon of pure musical joy.

As one of the most unique and recognisable musical ensembles in South Africa today, the Charl du Plessis Trio has contributed to resurgence in the popularity of crossover music from Zeerust to Zürich, Stellenbosch to Shanghai. They have won major music awards including a Fiësta, 4 SAMA awards and a Ghoema for Best Instrumental Album. This trio frequently performs in Europe and Asia as well as at major music festivals in South Africa. Highlights include Grachten festival -the Netherlands, Musikdorf Ernen - Switzerland, and Standard Bank Joy of Jazz -Johannesburg.

Formed in 2006 the scope of the Charl du Plessis Trio's musical diversity is what makes their endeavours truly unique. Performing in styles ranging from classical, jazz, rock, pop to even salsa, reggae, and Latin they have recorded ten independent albums and will release their new album, Imagine in the fall of 2020.
