Boulevard Harmonists – An A Capella Showcase

On Sunday February 25th at 3 PM we welcome to Northwards House, for the first time ever, the award-winning a capella ensemble, The Boulevard Harmonists.

Established in 1994 by the former Potchefstroom University, the NWU Boulevard Harmonists is a 6-voice (mixed) a cappella ensemble, celebrating music, excellent singing, and the joy of making good music. The Boulevard Harmonists is one of the finest a capella ensembles in South Africa, and one of very few ensembles that also sings classical music in the format that they do. They have won three prestigious international competitions, and their performances are met with wide critical acclaim. They have undertaken several successful classical music concert tours in Europe, and have released eight albums. You can listen to their latest albums, Horizons and Radiant Dawn, on all streaming platforms. (Click on the link and select your preferred streaming platform to be redirected to their album.)

The Boulevard Harmonists are Tarien Jacobs (soprano), Rethabile Khaile (mezzo-soprano), Lanka Stols (alto), Wilhelm Meyer (tenor), Daniel Jacobs (baritone) & Frans Venter (bass). Kobus Venter, the esteemed conductor of the North West University Choir, is their artistic director.

Their programme spans motets and madrigals from the renaissance, masterpieces from the late Romantic era, and contemporary choral music of heart-stopping beauty. Of course, you can also look forward to a few voices-only rearrangements of songs you never dreamed of hearing in a recital.

Join us at Northwards House at 21 Rockridge Road in Parktown, Johannesburg on Sunday, February 25th, at 3 PM for an afternoon of exquisite beauty in the company of the world’s most beautiful music.
